Rapper ‘The Game’ Punches Off-Duty Cop in the Face

Los Angeles, Calif. – Rapper The Game, whose real name is Jayceon Taylor, is no stranger to controversy. His latest antics, caught on cell phone video, are no certainly exception.

A video has emerged allegedly showing The Game punching an off-duty rookie LAPD officer in the face.

According to initial reports, the incident began as Game was participating in a pro-am game Sunday at Hollywood High School when he and the cop started exchanging heated words on the court.

The Game claims that the officer threatened him first by implying he was getting a gun from his bag, allegedly telling the rapper he was gonna go to his gym back and “get that thing,” which in street terms means get his gun.

The cop claims that The Game issued the first threat.

TMZ reports:

Sources connected to Game tell us the rapper says the punchee started things by throwing an elbow at Game … who responded by elbowing him right back. Then it got really heated — Game claims the guy said don’t make me go to my gym bag because … “I got that thing.”

The clear hint was the guy had a gun.

The report went on to say the LAPD is investigating the Game for battery — and also the off-duty officer. If he really did threaten to get his gun … he could be in big trouble.

Earlier this year the rapper was the subject of criticism when he posted “I Guess Ya’ll Can’t Breathe Either,” to his social media accounts in reference to the murder of Eric Garner, in response to the killing of NYPD officers.

We can’t all be Beyonce. So many times, talent goes unrecognized because of lack of opportunity, lack of funding, or even just lack of flawless Beyonce curves. But publicist Michael Bentley is willing to give those people a chance.
On September 11th, TNTBS talked with Bentley about being an entertainment publisher and working with less-recognized artists. Bentley’s shtick is to find artists who aren’t signed and give them a chance to put out a record. Unlike big record labels that expect a large fan base, he seeks the underrepresented.
Bentley fell into the publishing industry when he was young, which provided a basis for when he grew older. According to him, “Experience is the biggest thing you can have” when it comes to being a publisher because the career requires both talent and wisdom. Bentley used his entertainment background to create a sports and hip hop radio show called Through the Wire, which has been picked up by stations across the country.
Through the Wire’s success was helped along by the teamwork and open-mindedness of its crew. By airing at different times throughout the week, the station is more likely to be heard by different listeners. Bentley explains that his show stands out because it doesn’t follow the lead of other sports stations, which are generally just picked up by ESPN.
Bentley’s advice for making it out there? You can’t become famous just by “knowing someone.” You have to work harder than anyone else, even your manager. Of course there are a few exceptions (here’s looking at you, Paris Hilton), but as a general rule, you can’t expect to get anywhere if you aren’t willing to invest your heart and soul.
