Footage Released OU Football Player Joe Mixon Knocking Out Amelia Molitor, Breaking Bones In Her Face Released. (Video)
The video of University of Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon brutally punching a female student in 2014 was released by Mixon’s attorney Friday.
The Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled on Dec. 6 that the city of Norman should release the video showing the punch to the Oklahoma Association of Broadcasters, which had sued for access to the video under the Open Records Act. The city had not released the video yet.
“While Mr. Mixon is not a party to the OAB lawsuit and has not been directed by the Court to make any disclosure, he does not see any reason for the release of the recording at issue in that lawsuit to be delayed any longer,” Mixon’s attorney, Blake Johnson, wrote in a letter.
“Further delay appears only to be generating unfounded speculation about what is shown in that video,” the attorney wrote. “We also see no reason to withhold the second recording we received from Ms. Molitor’s attorneys and so have included it as well.”
Mixon, 20, accepted a plea to the misdemeanor charge of acts resulting in gross injury.
Andrea Molitor, the student, suffered several broken bones in her face as a result of the punch. She is suing Mixon.
The running back was suspended for the 2014 season before playing his freshman year in 2015. He played 11 games for the Sooners this season.
The university issued a statement following the release of the video:
“University officials were made aware of the content of the video prior to taking action with respect to Joe Mixon. Based on that information, the university immediately suspended and removed Mr. Mixon from the football team for one year, during which high standards of conduct were expected and maintained. It was made clear to Mr. Mixon at the time of his suspension that violence against women will not go unpunished at the university. Coach (Bob) Stoops has been proactive in presenting training for his team aimed at preventing such behavior in the future. Sensitivity training in the area of violence has been intensified and best practices will continue to be implemented. Mr. Mixon has apologized for his actions and the university hopes that it is an indication that he has learned from his mistakes. We are an educational institution where we hope young people will learn from their mistakes and chart a better future course.”
Releasing the video of the punch now avoids the possibility the city of Norman would release it days before OU plays Auburn in the Sugar Bowl.
“Mr. Mixon asked us to once again say he is sorry for the way he reacted that night. He has apologized publicly to Ms. Molitor, her friends, his family, teammates and the University,” Johnson wrote in the letter. “He hopes that his voluntary release of these recordings will help put this matter to rest.”

As another XXL Freshman list is released, we wanted to take a look at some of the rappers who DIDN’T appear on the list simple because they turned it down. The artist who felt for many different reasons that they didn’t want or need an XXL magazine co-sign. Some because they felt too big, some because they felt it was overdue, and some for other reasons and reasons unknown.
In 2016 it was confirmed that Tory Lanez had turned down the cover, and Bryson Tiller did the same. Despite a few heads at XXL saying Bryson wasn’t nominated, it quickly came to light that Bryson was asked not once but TWICE to be on the cover. Bryson Tiller should have been on in 2015, and XXL just flat out missed it.
Let’s take a look at some of the others to diss the magazine over the years.
The first class in 2007 had some major stars, but the first snub might have come as early as this class. The Bay’s own, Mistah Fab and former staff writers at XXL have confirmed that it was a missed connection that led the Fab not making the cover. This was never officially said by the magazine, but Fab looked like more than a shoe back in 2007.
There was no Freshman cover in 2008.
Odd Future’s Tyler the Creator was one of the first artist to turn down the cover. Tyler was quoted as saying he didn’t want to be on the cover with a ‘bunch of other dudes.’ It might have been 2009.
Drake and Nicki Minaj both turned down the cover in 2010.
“We just shot for XXL. With all due respect, we felt like we kinda had graduated from the freshman class. We felt that XXL missed the mark when they didn’t put us on the cover prior to that. They have to pay for that. They can’t say, ‘Hey, get on the next one.’ But we love XXL. That’s like a Hip Hop classic. So we said, ‘Can we have something just a little bit more catered to us, so that we feel like we have still grown as artists, so we’re not at all disrespecting the magazine?’ They were cool with that.”
Minaj insists that she and Drake were cordial about the request, and that the magazine took no issue with it. The both of them would later cover the magazine together.
When Drizzy and Nicki Lewinsky both said ‘no’ to the cover, the magazine needed to fill some spots and they asked Michael Barber to be a fill in. Michael Barber’s single, Shotguns and Canned Goods with UMG was released, but he turned down the cover too. Barber had a different response though stating to hip hop publicist Justin Melo that the magazine was apart of the ‘Illuminati’ and he also said, “I don’t mess with the candy and pop bullsh*t, and I won’t do a photoshop with a bunch of clowns.”
It appears now looking back that Barber should have got on the cover as his career hasn’t been that successful since 2011.
2010 was also the year that Jay Electronica claims to have turned down the magazine, but XXL never confirmed this.
In 2011 Cam’ron snubbed XXLmag the very next year when he said his artist, Vado, wouldn’t appear on the cover with the other artists. Vado was a very worthy of the cover, and Cam’ron proved that by getting him on the cover of the Source in the same month that the list came out on XXL. Cam’ron spoke with Shade 45 about what went down:
“I’m not trying to be an a**hole or be like, it’s us or nothing. I’m just trying to say, my man put a lot of work in the last year. So I’m not trying to say the other people that’s coming up shouldn’t be on the cover either. I’m not saying that, I’m saying just give him a little focus on the cover, and she said she didn’t know if she could do that, this that and the third — But what happened is, we got an album out — so the dude at Koch, Allan Grunblatt, he went to The Source and [got us] the cover — it doesn’t make sense for him to be behind seven people on the [XXL] cover and he’s gonna be front face on The Source cover with me and Jim. So, I told her that I couldn’t do it because she couldn’t give any guarantees on how his look was going to be. I still love the XXL and appreciate all the support they’ve given us.” Cam’ron
In 2012 ASAP Rocky was on the list but said he was too busy “touring and stuff” according to an interview. He also went on to say that he thought most of the people on the cover were “corny” anyway. He would later end up with his own cover the next year alongside French Montana.
Schoolboy Q didn’t make the cut, and rumors went both ways. Some said he was left off, and others said he declined. Schoolboy Q took the high road saying he was too experienced for the cover.
In 2013 Earl Sweatshirt followed his Odd Future partner when he dissed the magazine by not even responding to their calls or emails. It should be noted that 2013 was also the year that the magazine put 35 artists on their website, and let people vote for who they wanted.
In 2014 Young Thug was expected to appear on the 2014 XXL Freshman cover alongside Chance The Rapper, Rich Homie Quan, Kevin Gates, Troy Ave, Vic Mensa and others. Even though XXL Editor-In-Chief Vanessa Satten didn’t think he qualified to be on the cover yet since he only had two hit songs out at the time, he was still invited. Thugger agreed to be on the cover but he flaked the night before and never gave a reason why.
2015 didn’t feature any disses.
In 2016 Post Malone turned down the magazine telling them that he was headed in another direction musically with his career. Even though Post declines that that was the issue, XXL stands by it.

Juelz owes nearly $30k to his baby mama for their 13-year-old son, LaRon Jr. … according to legal docs obtained by TMZ. Juelz was ordered to pay $1,800 a month back in 2013, but you could say he’s fallen a little behind — since Jers says he owes $28,491.32.
His next payment is due on the 16th and there’s an active warrant out for his arrest.
A rapper associated with the Wu-Tang Clan was shot on Staten Island Saturday, said law enforcement sources.
Solomon Childs, whose real name is Ryan Dale, was struck on Forest Avenue and taken to the hospital, sources said. Childs’ injuries are not life-threatening, the sources said.
Childs is a Wu-Tang Clan affiliate, which is different from a full-fledged member of the group. Childs’ older brother, whose stage name is Cappadonna, is an original Wu-Tang Clan member.
Police are investigating the shooting, which prompted messages of concern on Childs’ Facebook page.
Thanks to his ambitious lawyer, Bobby Shmurda may be able to see the outside of his prison cell right on time if chooses to take a plea deal in a case he caught after he and his girlfriend were indicted on perjury, weapons possession and promoting prison contraband, TMZ reports.
Shmurda, who is currently serving a seven-year sentence for murder conspiracy, got caught with a “homemade knife” while in jail awaiting trial when his girlfriend brought him a shank.
Prosecutors are offering the “Hot Nigga” rapper the opportunity to plead guilty for the crime in exchange for a reduced charge of “attempted promoting prison contraband.”
If he takes the offer, he would only get one to four years, which will run concurrently with his current sentence, a huge opportunity for the 22-year-old considering his GS9 associate was sentenced to 98 years to life.
On January 7, he will either accept or reject the offer and his friends and family are reportedly encouraging him to take the generous proposal to have the sentence run at the same time of his murder conspiracy case.
The Brooklyn native born Ackquille Pollard wasn’t too happy with his lawyer previously for his seven-year sentence because he felt like he was lied to and forced to take it.
Bobby revealed he originally accepted the deal to help out his friend Rowdy Rebel.
“I did it for Rowdy,” Bobby said back in September. “They offered me five and offered Rowdy 12. They said the only way they’ll give him seven is if I took seven too. So, you know, I had to take one for the dawgs.”
Nas speaks on Ether and why he doesn’t like to hear it anymore with Angie Martinez…
As you’ve surely seen and heard by now, last night Kanye West was admitted to a Los Angeles-area hospital after what dispatchers called a “psychiatric emergency.” This comes just days after concerts in San Jose and Sacramento where the rapper made some shocking off-kilter remarks supporting Donald Trump, and taking shots at friends Beyonce, Jay and Drake. Something was off.
Most will never know the tremendous pressures of the music business — or the trappings of fame. And Kanye has endured this more than most — certainly more than the other artists of his 2004 class.
That said, longtime friend and collaborator, Twista, who himself has stayed relevant for over 25 years in the game, sent over an open letter penned to Yeezy. He empathizes, sympathizes, and lets Kanye and the world know he has his full support. Twista understands like most never could.
Get well soon, Kanye. Read Twista’s wise words below.
I woke up this morning and i felt the need to prayer for those who might not have a voice to pray. The music business is a very stressful business to be in, i been doing this for a very long time and believe me when i say it takes a very strong minded person to go thru the daily shyt that you have to go thru. “the smile of a clown” a clown gets paid to make other people happy, even if that clown might be going through a mental break down, that clown can’t let the public see him cry or else he might loose the only job that helps him take care of his family.
the music business is all about profit and elevation, the more hotter you are the more money you make, the longer your career lasts. the only catch to that is no one stays hot forever, no one can be new over and over again, so now you have the pressure from your fans, record label, friends, family, bill collectors, and the media to keep making hot music and never get old. take a min and think about that, can you imagine the pressure and responsibility a person gotta have not only to be successful but also to stay successful too?
So today I pray for my man Kanye, and i ask everyone to do the same too, wanting help doesn’t show weakness, it actually shows character and it lets people know you too are you human and you too have feelings too. when the provider needs help, who can the provider turn too? When you have sooo many people that depend on you everyday, who can you turn to just to vent out to or just breath too without feeling weak to?
No one is perfect when it comes down to living life in general, so this morning i pray my homie. I pray that Kanye finds that one thing that money and fame can’t buy. #APeaceofMind Chicago Loves you bro, … Twista
West has suddenly pulled the plug on his entire tour, less than 48 hours after having an onstage meltdown in California and posting a series of bizarre images on Instagram.
A friend said, “There are fears he is having a nervous breakdown. He’s surrounded by all these crazy people, but there’s nobody he listens to or who can rein him in. He’s a mad genius, and he’s spiraling further and further out of control. Basically everything crazy he does is ‘art,’ so he is becoming more and more unpredictable.”
Another source explained West is burned out from juggling his fashion line and the tour. “He’s just exhausted. He’s been working around the clock on fashion design, both on his own line and the Adidas line. He’s a notorious workaholic, so balancing both that work — which is extremely important to him — and the rigors of the tour every night. It really wore him out.”
A rep for West did not comment.
The canceled dates include Dec. 30 and 31 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and Dec. 16 at Newark’s Prudential Center.
