Cloak and Dagger Go “Home” With First Single off Dusty Digital

Grammy and Oscar Nominated Production Duo Cloak and Dagger Prepare to Release Album.

The Grammy nominated production duo, Cloak and Dagger, are preparing to release their first official single on the new music label, The Sycamore Agency. Cloak and Dagger is a production team made up of two producers, Groove Kennedy and Kevin “Rooster” Burns.

Kennedy and Burns have scored movies and television shows since 2007, and have worked on projects nominated for both Oscars and Grammys.

The song titled, Home, is the first song that will feature vocals from the duo. The 2014 self released, self titled album, was just a combination of instrumentations and samples. The vocals aren’t typical vocals, however, as Groove Kennedy uses a talk box for all the vocal type sounds.

This album will be the first to launch on the new record label that isn’t a record label by former Hollywood publicist, Andrew “Dru” Tyler. Tyler has credits in the entertainment industry that jaw dropping including, Michael Jackson, the Jackson 5, hip hop group The Roots, Grammy winner Beck, and more.

Cloak and Dagger were the first group Tyler signed last year after announcing the launch of the new label.

Home will feature another musician from the Sycamore Agency, Michael Barber. It will release on January 15th on every digital outlet, but will also be available on cassette and vinyl in limited numbers via the Sycamore Agency Website. It will not be available in CD format at this time.

Home will be featured on their album, Dusty Digital, that will release February 9th.

Hip-hop group “freebandz gang” indicted in $1.2M fraud scheme

A Charlotte-area hip-hop group has been indicted on federal charges after investigators said members flaunted cash, jewelry and cars on social media — all financed by complicated fraud schemes.

Seven members of the group, FreeBandz Gang, face charges over a $1.2 million bank and identity theft scheme, according to documents.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department could not discuss the exact details of the case, but told WSOC that a rise in the number of homegrown identity thieves has led them to launch a new task force to stop them.

“It is a lucrative business,” Sgt. Robert Sprague said.

Sprague, who investigates financial crimes for the CMPD, said local identity thieves often form groups and rely on people they know to pull of their scams.

“Using other neighbors, friends, family, relatives as their victims. Absolutely, it makes it very dangerous,” Sprague said.

Investigators said the FreeBandz Gang members would approach people on social media, or in person, and offer $500 or $1,000 to open an account. Then, the suspects would allegedly deposit altered checks and withdraw money before banks detected the scam, officials said.

The group is also accused of stealing people’s identities to get cars and phones to resell. Federal agents said group members made off with roughly $1.2 million.

“It would be a surprise to everybody that it happens everywhere, every city,” Sprague said.

WSOC spoke with a woman over the phone who asked to remain anonymous. She said someone she trusted gave one of the suspects her debit card without her knowledge for the check scheme, hoping for a quick payday.

“When I deposited my check a couple of days later, my bank account had been closed due to fraudulent activity. All my hard-earned money that I actually worked for and saved for my daughter was gone,” she said.

Police said that despite what some criminals may think, identity theft and fraud is not a victimless crime.

“We are all at a loss when these financial crimes take place,” Sprague said.

The suspects are facing sentences up to 30 years in prison. WSOC reached out to Wells Fargo — since some of the victims’ accounts were with the bank — and a spokesperson sent resources to protect people from fraud.

Air Jordan 11 “Blackout” Sample To Release In May 2018

One of the most storied and elusive Air Jordan samples ever may only be that for a little while longer, as it is rumored to be releasing in 2018. The Air Jordan 11 “Blackout” first caught the sneaker world by the ear back in 2012 when a Jordan 11 “Blackout” sample popped up on eBay and promptly sold for over $11,000. Since then, fans of the Jordan 11 have only dreamed that they would one day see the famed colorway release. It finally seems that six years later that dream will become reality. The sleek tonal black colorway of the classic Jordan silhouette is rumored to be set for a release in May of 2018. While this may signal one of the most hyped Jordan Brand drops in recent memory, it also shows that releases of the Jordan 11 Mid are apparently no longer reserved for the holiday season as they once were. Nonetheless, its safe to say that this colorway could drop on a random Tuesday in July and it would still have the attention of the entire sneaker-collecting community. Stay tuned to Sneaker News for all the latest details on the Jordan 11 “Blackout” release as they become available.

Lil Peep Took Nap, Never Woke Up According to Manager

Lil Peep took a nap before his Tucson show and never woke up … according to the police report.
Peep’s manager says she saw the rapper early Wednesday on his tour bus and he appeared to be fine. She says Peep took a nap around 5:45 PM and when she checked on him a short time later he was snoring and breathing without issue. After being unable to wake him, she decided to let him sleep longer.

The report says when Peep’s other manager checked on him later in the night, the rapper was completely unresponsive and his team began CPR.
Cops say when they arrived, they discovered several Xanax pills, loose marijuana and an unknown tan powder on the rapper’s tour bus.
Lil Peep was just 21.

Former NFL Wide Receiver Terry Glenn Dies in Car Crash

Former NFL wide receiver Terry Glenn died in a car crash in Texas, officials confirm. He was 43.
We’re told Glenn was in a single-car accident early Monday morning and was ejected from his vehicle. By the time officials responded to the crash site, it was clear Glenn had passed. He was pronounced dead on arrival.
Glenn had a passenger in his vehicle — we’re told it was his fiancee — but she survived the crash. She’s currently being treated at the ICU of a local hospital.
We’re told officials plan on doing a full autopsy, including toxicology, to see if they can get more information on what led to the crash.
Glenn was the 7th overall pick in the 1996 NFL Draft — taken by the New England Patriots after an impressive run at Ohio State.
He went on to play 12 seasons in the NFL — with the Patriots, Packers and Cowboys.
Terry also famously caught Tom Brady’s very first TD pass in 2001.
